Some great folks including @crimethincdotcom and @blackqueercollective are banning together to create a National Emergency Trump can't ignore. See the link in profile.
Today I'm feeling very grateful for all of you who have supported me in what I do by buying books from me. If any of you would like to share real quick, I'd love to know a book you bought from me, and maybe how you felt about it! Thanks, and I hope everyone's making it through this holiday okay. 😊

I stocked up on copies of this book, No Wall They Can Build, because I think it's a fantastic source of context for the situation we see happening in Washington right now.
Published by @crimethincdotcom and written by an anonymous desert-aid worker, this 200-page book is PACKED with eye-opening information that we Americans would never otherwise know. Through first-hand experience doing what they can to simply keep migrants alive, as well as meticulous research on the intricacies of migration across North America, the author lays bare their interactions with migrants, Border Patrol, the Mexican cartels, and everyone in-between. Honestly, I didn't expect to like this book as much as I did.
What I love most are the stories--about literally saving people's lives by leaving a jug of water in the desert in the right place at the right time, about the wide array of people the author comes across, and their wide array of reasons for risking their lives to cross the imaginary line between the United States and Mexico. The stories are truly incredible--ones that we could never hear from our usual sources of news, and they provide empathy for migrants/refugees that I for one hadn't properly come across.
I'm not doing this book justice. If you want to understand what the border is all about from the people who LIVE it on the ground, get this book. It's brief yet rich, and it makes sense of everyone's motivations involved--migrants; the governments of the US, Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, and Honduras; desert-aid workers; the Border Patrol; folks who live in border towns; American businesses who exploit migrant labor; etc.
I'll have copies at the Winter Flea on Sunday, and it's available in my online shop (link in bio). It's only $10.
